Welcome to Saint Mark's on the Park in beautiful Lake City, Minnesota.
St. Mark's is a member of the Diocese of Minnesota, the Episcopal Church, USA and the world-wide Anglican Communion.
We are a Christian community that gathers for:
Worship
We are blessed with a beautiful worship space where we proclaim God’s Word and celebrate the sacraments with joy. While our worship services are fairly traditional, our theology respects the unique faith experience of those at different places in their spiritual journey. While embracing the wisdom and traditions of our ancestors, we also seek to respond to the new and wonderful ways God continues to speak.
The traditional red doors of our church symbolize the refuge and sanctuary offered to all who pass through those doors. We believe we offer a warm and supportive church experience that welcomes all of God’s children into a community of faith and fellowship.
Service
What separates us from other social justice and humanitarian groups is the grounding of our service in the love of Jesus Christ. We recognize that although we are saved by grace, our faith is demonstrated in service as we respond to the needs of our neighbors and community.
St. Mark’s has regularly entered a team in the annual Relay for Life event to raise funds to fight cancer. In addition, we have hosted it's silent auction and conducted a service of healing for those participating. Other acts include raising funds for flood relief as well as supporting the Red Cross, local food shelves and migrant ministries. Individual members offer much of their time to visit shut-ins, advocate for issues on local government boards and much, much more.
Learning
We are life-long learners, continually seeking to discern God’s will for ourselves, our community and the world. Worship, preaching and prayer are critical in accomplishing this task. We also recognize our need to gather together to study God’s Word and learn from the insights and experiences of one another.
Therefore we strive to provide educational opportunities for everyone, children and adults alike. Christian education is a life-long task suitable for any stage of one’s spiritual journey. We welcome you to participate in one of our educational forums, to share your experience, both of faith and questioning that help lead us all to a deeper experience of God in our lives.
Fun & Fellowship
After our formal worship service ends, the strengthening of relationships is really just beginning as all are invited to attend our fellowship hour immediately following the service. Every Sunday coffee and treats are provided after the worship service. This is an informal time for people to get to know each other a little better, to visit, to catch up on events of the past week and simply to enjoy one another’s company. Occasionally we also include a pot-luck luncheon.
If you are a card player, you might consider joining one of our bridge groups. On Mondays the parish hall is open at noon for those interested in playing Social Bridge, and it is open again every Friday at noon for Contract Bridge.
